Got some wheels... oh dear! Hey all Since my last email I've started work, quit work and bought a car, yes people the Tagster is MOBILE! Last week I decided that I was going to need
a car to get to my new job each morning for 3 months as the bus didn't run
early enough, so I found a dealer down a side street and bought a 19 year
old Honda civic pretty cheap. Don't be fooled by the age its been
Oops sorry about that, so anyway the car's great and I'm now starting to learn my way around, driving in a new country is so strange it takes a bit of getting used to, but I have learned that you're allowed to do U-turns at traffic lights which is pretty handy as I get lost quite a bit. I started work last Monday and quit yesterday after only a week. One of the hockey lads gave me a number of a company who were looking for a labourer so I thought I'd go for it as I'd done labouring before and I'd know what to do... how wrong can I be, I was labouring for a company that delivers tiles (not too bad) and... goes to building sites picking up rubbish. So Monday and Tuesday I delivered 20 tonnes of tiles by hand in 28 degrees putting my back out and Wednesday through Friday I was on clean up which basically meant going round building sites picking up all the garbage as "skips are too expensive". Friends this was disgusting, they gave me no gloves and there was rotten food, nappies, dog mess, sharp and rusty pieces of metal. As i was being paid cash in hand I decided to stick it out till Friday and as soon as the pay packet was in my hand I handed my shirt in and said "I quit!". The only plus side i suppose is that I was outside all day so I've got an awesome tan now although that just might be dirt from all the s**t I had to pick up, you wont recognise me when I get back, you'll all be saying whose this new Pakistani we got playing for North Notts? So all that's behind me now so to celebrate me and Tim went into town last night for a few hundred pints of bundi draught (this is a pint of rum and coke) and the next thing I remember was waking up this morning. Town was crawling with American marines as one of their ships docked in cairns for 5 days of r&r before heading back to the US. I've played my first game of rugby league and I love it, we played it at fitness the other night and got right into it, I didn't have a clue what to do but that still didn't stop them taking the mick as I kick the ball like a soccer ball which the find hilarious! There's a big game tonight as the bronco's play the cowboys, these are both Queensland teams so there's a big rivalry. I've got to got now as I'm playing hockey later, its 28 degrees and I'm hung over, I'm not looking forward to it at all. We move into our house tomorrow, its just around the corner from hockey and 10 mins away from the lagoon so it should be pretty cool. Many thanks for all your birthday emails it was much appreciated. Take care Taggie
